The lighthouse at Beavertail, Jamestown, RI
Sometimes I react to the "statement" of a scene and take a shot without really thinking about what it was I liked until after the production. That was the case when we were riding our motorcycles out on Beavertail in Jamestown and I saw this picture unfolding.
Lighthouses are a good metaphor for a spiritual beacon or waypoint, and that, plus the "gaggle" of people in the foreground in their "Sunday Best" gives this capture a vibe that is not unlike that of a church gathering.
This is a capture of balcony shutters in Venice Italy, monochrome version. The weirdness of old world charm contrasting with new world electric junction boxes and wiring doesn't bother me and in some ways adds to this shot.
